Weeks Six/Seven

In grades 3-5, students continue to work toward building proficiency as it relates to their objectives for the quarter. Assessments are commonly given on Thursdays for grades 4 and 5 and Fridays for grade 3.

  • 3rd graders are in the middle of creating a book about their families for their second presentational writing task. Next week, they will also speak about their families.
  • 4th graders recently spoke about their evening routines. Next up is to create a comic strip that outlines “A day in the life of” a character of their choosing for their second presentational writing task.
  • This week, 5th graders watched the beginning of a video of three child artisans in Peru. They learned about Joaquín, a boy who makes retablos with his family in Santa Ana, Huamanga, Ayacucho. Their speaking assessment focused on describing what they might do if they went to Ayacucho. Next week, they will watch a video about a second artisan from another region and complete their second writing task.
